STAFF AND FAMILIES

Staffing
All the teaching staff at the Royal School for the Blind will have the additional qualification in teaching children with visual impairments. Some teachers also have additional qualification in learning difficulties, hearing impairment and multi-sensory impairment. The teaching and care staff have regular in-service training and are encouraged to attend relevant courses to develop their expertise.

Families

The Royal School for the Blind, believes it is very important to promote partnership with parents, who are welcome to visit school at anytime. Information is exchanged between school and home by link books, as well as telephone and visits. During the year, there are coffee mornings, an Open Day, and other school events for parents to participate in.

Photographs and Records of Achievement are used to illustrate each pupil's school life. Annual reviews are held for each child. At these reviews parents, L.E.A. representatives and school staff have the opportunity to discuss the progress of each pupil.
